Logos, slogans and trade names are all types of trademarks.  They identify a company's goods and services.  A registered trademark is a trademark that has been registered with the government and allows the trademark owner to sue anyone who uses a confusingly similar trademark.

An industrial design (design patent) protects the "look" of an object.
